Day Description: I will meet you inside the Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) arrival hall holding a name sign. We drive inland toward the Cultural Triangle, stopping first at Pinnawala to observe elephants along the river. Next, we visit the UNESCO-listed Dambulla Cave Temple, exploring five cave shrines filled with ancient rock paintings and Buddha statues. In the evening, we check into your hotel in Sigiriya.

Day Description: We start early after breakfast to climb the world-famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress (Lion Rock) before the afternoon heat. Admire the ancient frescoes, the Mirror Wall, and panoramic jungle views. Next, enjoy an authentic rural village tour—including an ox-cart ride, lotus lake boat ride, and a traditional Sri Lankan lunch. In the late afternoon, we board a 4x4 open-top safari jeep at Minneriya National Park (or Eco Park) to witness wild elephant herds in their natural habitat.

Day Description: After breakfast, we drive south toward Kandy. En route, we visit a local spice garden in Matale to discover how natural Sri Lankan spices and herbs are grown. We also visit the towering, colorful Sri Muthumariamman Hindu Kovil. Upon arriving in Kandy, we settle into the hotel and finish the evening attending a vibrant Kandyan cultural dance and fire-walking performance.

Day Description: We begin with a morning walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya, famous for its giant palms and orchids. Next, visit an official gem museum and lapidary to learn about Sri Lanka’s famed blue sapphires, followed by time for local city shopping in Kandy. We then drive into the misty tea mountains, touring an operating Ceylon tea factory and plantation with a fresh tea-tasting session. Arrive in Nuwara Eliya in the late afternoon.

Next, I drop you at Nanu Oya Railway Station for the iconic scenic train ride through tea plantations, pine forests, and mountain villages. I will meet you at Ella station with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel.

Day Description: We start early walking out to the colonial-era Nine Arches Bridge in Ella to watch the morning train cross over the valley. Next, take an easy scenic hike up Little Adam’s Peak for panoramic views over Ella Gap. As we descend out of the mountains toward the southern dry zone, we pull over at the roaring Ravana Waterfalls. In the evening, check into your Yala hotel and rest up for tomorrow's early safari.

Day Description: We begin before dawn with an early morning 4x4 open-top jeep safari in Yala National Park to search for Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears, wild elephants, and birds. Afterward, we journey west along the southern coast to Meetiyagoda, home to Sri Lanka’s unique moonstone mines. We also visit a sea turtle conservation hatchery before arriving at your beach hotel in Bentota.
